Immediately upon graduating with an MBBS in 2008, James pursued a 5 year international professional cycling career. James has since completed a Masters degree in Pain Management and a Graduate Diploma in Psychiatric medicine. James has extensive mental health experience, particularly in adolescent mental health.James’s clinical areas of interest also include paediatrics, sports medicine, chronic pain, drug and alcohol management and complex care coordination. He is particularly passionate about preventative medicine and the early detection and prevention of chronic disease. He is passionate about primary care system reform and addressing the true underlying issues that lead to people presenting complaints. He has held numerous advisory and advocacy positions within both the college of GPs and with government health departments around the topics of mental health, drug and alcohol management and social prescribing. James is accredited to provide Implanon insertion and can provide iron infusions. His other passions include fishing, underwater photography, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and five young children.
